An underrated Lionhead Studio classic that I would buy in a heart beat if it came to GOG.
Remember playing this game on my terrible family PC when I was a kid. It could just about play the game, but that didn't stop me from loving it. Going through the decades of movie trends and technology, spending countless hours training my actors to be the best at horror films, to the actor creator and being able to put my friends and family in the game. I loved every second of it.
Back in it's heyday, you could upload user created movies straight to the games website and have people review your movies. The more reviews you got, the more rewards you could earn in game. Also one of the few games I remember that let you export your movies from the game to a video format. Making it an excellent game for machinima makers. Combine that with a vibrant modding community at the time (RIP 8 EYED BABY), made the game the ultimate sandbox for creators.
To this day I still have my physical copies of the OG and the excellent Stunts & Effects expansion and always think about replaying it. Sadly, time hasn't been kind to the game and getting it to run on Win 10 or 11 is not fun. Thanks to the game using SafeDisc DRM, you couldn't even play the game on anything higher than WinXP, so your only hope is the no disc crack. The only place to get that no disc crack is on websites that not only look like they were made in 2005, but are littered with ads and fake download links.
Having a way to buy it digitally and in a playable state is just the icing on the cake. There is a chance to revive a lost game in Lionhead Studios history. There is a chance to revive old machinima creation tools that time forgot (maybe even competition potential? Just saying GOG) and there is a chance to bring back that very dedicated modding community to keep it going for many more years to come.
But copium aside, I just don't want to go through dodgy websites for a nostalgia hit XD
Please GOG, revive this classic!!!
