Of all the games from Lionhead Studios, the loss of this one (and its indispensable expansion, Stunts & Effects) sits with me the most. It's a truly unique game, where you run a movie studio and make your own films with your own stars--hire them, build the sets, do the script and post-production (you could even add your own audio!), keep your staff happy etc etc. There was also a Star Maker where you could make your own stars/actors and import them into the game.
It's a game that (afaik) hasn't had even an attempt at something similar since, with a campaign and sandbox mode that are both equally fun. While some of its mechanics and relative limitations may seem restrictive now (it's a 2005 game after all), it was in its own way a pioneering game that would've benefitted from a sequel improving upon the form. It's just a shame that never happened.
Unfortunately the Movies suffers from being basically unplayable on modern systems (via disc), and unavailable digitally in any form. I would love this game (plus expansion) to be preserved and released by GOG so I can once again make terrible movies with my temperamental stars.
