The video game adaption of the acclaimed film of the same name. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a follow up the well received adaption of the first two films in the trilogy. The game expands on what The Two Towers accomplished, with the action and adventure sequel introducing three separate story lines from the movie: one following Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, as The Two Towers did, another following Gandalf, and a third following Frodo and Sam, with Merry, Pippin, and Faramir serving as unlockable characters. Gameplay features were also expanded upon, including multiplayer.

Easily one of the best licensed games of all time, maybe even THE best. This game is a very impressive show of talent from some of the people that would go on to make Dead Space and is the basis of many happy early gaming memories for myself. Odds of this ever actually getting re-released are next to zip thanks to licensing issues, but that doesn't change the fact that this is easily my number one pick for this program.

Without a shadow of doubt, the best Lord of the Rings games, massively helped that is actually voiced by the actors, and was done while filming so allowing the game to match the movies. I always remember when watching the Fellowship of the ring and the fighting at Mordor (intro) picking out each time when the movie would turn into the game. How with all the money into video games have they not managed to top these games. Shadow of War is good, but manly for the combat not really the story. GIVE US THE PRECIOUS WE WANTS IT, WE NEEDS IT.
This use to be one of my all time replay games because some missions you could just kill orcs endlessly. Truly one of my all time favorite games right beside the two towers.
The best LOTR game. I don't want to hear how much you loved Shadow of Mordor. It will never compare to the feeling of you and your childhood friend clearing a bunch of levels in this and arguing about what upgrades to get in-between levels. There are other LOTR games on GoG so why not this one? I suspect because it's in license limbo. Needs a re-release to properly support widescreen with nonstretching UI, fix controller mappings, fix the loading crashes, and please please please keep the behind the scenes content as it shows off so much of the films preproduction. Plus it has interviews with the actual cast who voice act for the game which is an absolute treat.

I grinded this game so much. It is one of the best games for a movie that has ever existed. You can really feel the hectic battle, but also the power of the characters. Cutting down Orcs with the Orc Hammer, learning the combos and leveling until we beat wave after wave in front of the black gate. Okay, sorry folks... I have a trilogy to watch and hopefully this game to play, in a dream future
I remember playing this game on my uncle's ps2 then his OG xbox. It was my favourite and I still visit to this day if its possible. As a kid i felt like I was in the movie and as a kid that brought me joy because it was my favourite movie andd still is. I think this game should be preserved so that other people who wants to reexperience that wonder they felt as a kid
too many hours of couch co-op with friends. Sad that this game has not been preserved. A disservice really. Played this game alot with my boy TBIRD! GOG do your thing!!!!!!!!!!!

Playing next to my two cousins. The three of us, from different generations, enjoying killing orcs, picking our favorite characters and truly feeling the difference of leveling up, new combos! amazing game!

I remember playing countless hours of this game with friends and family alike. What a dope moment it is to do the path of the dead in coop, or Pelennor fields, and the black gate ! Most stressful moment in the life of a gamer MUST be those damn orc ladders on the walls of Minas Tirith. Very good derivative product from the movie with the footage as cinematics fading into game engine.
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
