Why? I understand not wanting to see it or play it, but we really shouldn't tell other people what they should or shouldn't play. If someone likes these games they absolutely ought to be able to buy them and play them. Likewise GOG should be able to sell them and make money.

Not wanting crap shoved in your face is not mutually exclusive with not sticking your nose in other people's business.

I get it as you and a lot of people will never care. From my perspective though, I own those installers. They are here. No one can take them away from me.

Steam could kill my entire 1300 game collection with almost 1000 DLC's this afternoon if it wanted to, but since I only signed a license, I don't own a single thing there.

PS5 for example removing the Blu-Ray tray. Bad move. That is just an online portal to Sony. I would never own such a device.

IMHO, it is a matter of time before a extreme number of people get a wake up call. I won't care much. There are 1750 games on that NAS. I don't care if the entire internet goes down either. I can build a machine from scratch with all the software you can dream up without anything leaving this house.

That's nice and all, but you are making it sound as if you think you are completely safe. You aren't. Your NAS is not infallible, house fires happen, power surges happen, tornadoes/earthquakes/floods/landslides happen, trees fall, break-ins happen, etc.

This is somewhat similar to the conversation about banks can hoarding cash/gold. Yes, banks fail, so keeping your money there isn't a guarantee of safety. Keeping your money under a mattress, however, is even less of a guarantee.

Oh, I care. I'm about as strong a proponent of offline installers as you'll ever find. I just don't think of them as collectibles. And even for things I would consider actual collectibles, I'd still consider impulse buying a poor idea. But hey, you do you.

The reason I'm so adamantly anti-porn is multi-faceted. Some may point to my Christian worldview, which would morally condemn such a thing, but if we're speaking purely from objective means, it truly is horrible for mental health. It's no different than offering a drug with no noticeable side effects to an addict: they may not notice the side effects but it's slowly rotting away at their brain until they're impossibly hooked with no way out.

That said, I doubt it will ever be removed, and that's tragic. The least GOG can do is give us an option to get that gutter trash far away from our own feed.

Can GOG please remove these trash games? They are everywhere with no way to hide it for good. What happened with the GOG team that curated games? Why now is there so much low-quality games?

Irrational beliefs in an unseen order notwithstanding, pornography being horrible for mental health is far from having been established as fact. So far we can fairly confidently say that the relationship between the two isn't causal. Compulsively consuming anything is bad for you and messed up people tend to consume things that way (which can alter brain chemistry and screw up their dopamine reward system) but it's not porn than made them messed up and susceptible to compulsive behavior in the first place.

So yeah, "tragic" isn't the word I would use.

But hopefully proper filters will arrive soon and we don't have to look at trash (even though we define "trash" very differently it seems.)

That's a very "US-centric" viewpoint, usually in Europe sex/porn is not consider as absolute evil while murder and violence is standard family friendly fun like it might be in the US, usually it is the opposite. So even if Gog didn't had a single porn games on it it would have, sooner or later, to implement EU age verification laws because of games like Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 and all the other PEGI18 games that are considered adult-only content.

Heck where I live a 16+ year old can legally purchase and watch all the porn he or she want but needs to be 18+ to purchase Witcher 3.

Not everywhere, when I was young, in the 80s / 90s, porn and video games where usually kept in the same corner, and there was no curtains, first it was in the libraries where the video games magazines were right next to the adult ones (probably because they were then considered to be "guys" stuff) usually games on the bottom shelf and adult on the top shelf, and later, when CD-Rom became a things, all the very badly encoded porn movies being on the same shelves than games, and I am not talking about some obscure shop but major mainstream chains.

If anything things have become a lot more "sanitized/controlled/hidden" nowadays that they were back then.

It would be nice to have an option of filtering them out on the main site.
