Lifthrasil: Diablo wouldn't work as movie or series, I think. Too little content. Too generic. It's just another 'hero bashes lots of mooks and then the big bad' story, like so many Steven Seagal movies.
There ain't nothing wrong with an entertaining popcorn action flick. ;)

Hm, I guess that it could be meditative to see a guy going in a cave, coming back, going into the cave again, coming back, again and again and again.....
Sadly, we can`t have Christopher lee as Deckard Cain and no Alan Rickman as Diablo.
