Shadow Warrior (2013)

All Men Eat, But Fu Manchu

If you love Serious Sam, you are going to like this one. Instead of the iconic chainsaw, you wield a katana. It is an Action game with skill tree, which allows you to focus on certain combat styles, and utilize and upgrade your combat moves, which are essentially tied to your katana. Each combat move has certain powers which should be used in adequate situations. For example: using area of effect strikes when surrounded by mob, using single target special attacks on powerful enemies, using energy slash attack for dealing ranged damage, etc. Other usable weapons are firearms (micro SMGs, shotgun, rocket launcher, flamethrower, etc.), and they have upgrades which add alternate firing modes to each of your weapons. The game is linear, but it has enough content to offer, especially if you are aiming to repeat the game by playing on higher difficulties, with fewer resources to plan out your build. Higher difficulties are challenging, unforgiving and a bit overdone at the times. Overall, the game is very fun experience, and the main character Lo Wang is very likable character. Definitely one of the most memorable characters in the gaming industry. One of the best Action games, and one of the best PC games overall.

Worms Revolution Gold Edition

The Best Worms Game

It's a 3D game with fixed camera angle, so it plays like any other 2D Worms game. Graphics look cute and beautiful, as well as character models, environments and backgrounds. Music is nice, relaxing and pleasant, it fits well with each map's ambient, and adds more to the theme. Each map has different soundtrack to add more immersion. There is plenty of weapon and utility choices, some of them which only appear in this version of Worms. Weapons are diverse and some of them have never appeared in a previous Worms, nor in Worms W.M.D, which was released few years after this one. It contains maps under the open sky, so you can use all available hand-held weapons and summon air strikes and other dropped weapons from the sky. Then there are maps with closed, underground setting, which prevent you from calling airstrikes and other weapons. Forts game mode is with two teams, each team in own fort. This part of the series focuses on interaction with objects randomly placed on the map. They are destructible and inflict damage upon their destruction, in accordance with their type. It's the only Worms game with water physics and environmental damage. Besides the water physics, Stone Donkey is physics driven as well. In previous editions, as well as W.M.D, Stone Donkey just follows the gravity at location where it spawned, until it reaches the bottom. Here, it can slide down the curves and change its course drastically, wrecking havoc in directions you did not intend it to. The game also contains the map editor and some worms customization. You can customize your worms' voice and helmets, not much, but it's cute. Artificial intelligence tends to be unforgiving in campaign mode, since every hit they make is accurate, and it hits you almost every time it fires. Rare are the moments when the AI misses its target. It can be frustrating, but a rewarding experience, since the game pushes more pressure on you. That way you are forced to develop your situational awareness, aiming accuracy and attack sensitivity management. Matches against AI in deathmatch tend to be more relaxing since you have the control over the weapons of choice, map style and AI difficulty, prior to starting the match. You can create allowed weapons of choice lists and delay their spawn for few turns if you like. Rope mechanics in this game are terrible. Some game types like puzzle missions have irrational expectations from players, considering how complicated they are to solve. Some puzzles require you to do risky stuff you normally wouldn't, since most of the tricks they require are over the top action, which puts your worms' lives in grave danger. Buy it when the price drops at 10€ or below, since there is a DLC available for purchase. Don't spend more than 5€ for the DLC. Total package worth 15€ seems like a reasonable deal. DLC doesn't bring nothing significant to the table, but it's a nice all around package filled with new single player missions and multiplayer maps. Like I said, the best Worms game. One of the best strategy games, and one of the best PC games overall.

Tropico 5: Complete Collection

Kalypso’s Fifteen Years Of Shame

Tropico 5 has not been patched properly. Getting in touch with Kalypso staff was impossible, as they tend to avoid all means of communication with them, regardless of the platform. Because of that, I will only review the game-breaking bugs the game has: 1.) There is a game-breaking bug, which triggers the uprising, the military buildings receive the target marks above them, the crowd keeps running in the streets with the arms, but they do not have the uprisers marker above them. The military gets grouped in front of the targeted buildings prepared to defend them, but they do not attack the uprisers, because the uprisers have not been marked, and they do not attack the buildings nor the army. This makes the sandbox mode impossible to be played long term, with constitution options other than democracy, because the democracy constitution option doesn’t allow the uprisings. Thus, roleplaying a totalitarian or police state is impossible. It is not possible to build military buildings during this time, as the uprising is in progress, but it is not functional, because of the bug. 2.) After the uprising has been over, there are buildings which remain empty due to the population loss. The problem is that those buildings do not get repopulated by other people, who got into the work force, and have the wealth required to live inside of them. Instead, the player is forced to demolish those bugged buildings, and build the new ones, so the population can start moving in. It is a waste of money, a waste of time as the construction workers become occupied rebuilding the same residential buildings over and over again and it creates unnecessary traffic jams. It makes sandbox mode unplayable in the long run. 3.) Tourism cap in the game leaves lots of hotels empty. 4.) The oil refinery in the sea does not become removed sometimes once the oil deposit has been depleted, thus making the scenery uglier.

Master of Orion: Collector's Edition Upgrade

Avoid This Unfinished Game

The developers have abandoned this game. It has crashes, bugs, broken mechanics and unbalanced races left over. It is like buying a pre-release game, that will never get finished.

HITMAN - Game of The Year Edition

DRM paid

They said they would remove, how they call it, the so called "review bombing". Even though I do not own the game on Gog, I do own it on Steam. But, they have asked for it, and I will deliver. The game is DRM paid, not the DRM free. Get it? Heh. It has the DRM, dummy. Obviously. Avoid it. Do not buy it. Here, Gog, have some.
