The Dig®

A classic.

I keep chasing the high that this game gave me, but nothing seems to come close. It is, of course, the phenomenal writing by Orson Scott Card that makes the game what it is, but the whole thing's great—the plot, the atmosphere, the puzzles, the art—it all hangs together along with the story to make an almost, if not quite, perfect game.

Full Throttle Remastered

Astonishingly mediocre

Everything's great about this game—the voice acting (Mark Hamill is always fun), the art (gorgeous), the aesthetic, and just the idea about making a video game about a futuristic biker gang—except the writing, which is…bad. Not abysmal, but implausible, unrealistic, unintelligent, and in general not very well thought through, with various plot points that don't make sense, puzzle solutions that leave you shaking your head, and a storyline that is, at best, fine. The puzzles are either rather easy or, if difficult, rely on the answers making no sense. I really don't get it. Why spend this much time and money on a game and neglect the most important part?
