It costs $4.99 when on sale on GOG and on Humble Store.
When it's on sale it's almost always 75% off, so it will drop to $5 here.

Still Ubisoft probably dictates the price and they'd rather you go to their store (to the rest of the DRM'd series) rather than buy it from here anyways.

Alas I won't buy the game here unless the other games are here and I won't use Uplay. Catch-22... (Plus I beat the original game and all optional objectives as I recall for the most part and don't feel like replaying it)
Well, first thing is that you bought it 50% off and that game is not on sale here right now.
Second thing is that it is the price that they agrred on with Ubisoft when they released teh game and no one touched the price since then so it might be pricier than elsewhere.
Or you can assume you pay extra for DRM-Free version instead of UPlay one.

Also, to pick one gmae is bit silly. I bet you would find other games that are cheaper here than over there and certainly so when they are on sale here and not on Gamesplanet.
I bought Assassin's Creed for 3.79€ on GOG.

Meanwhile, Vitek and rtcvb got a point. GOG doesn't dictate prices, publishers do.

Since the possible serious answers are all given already:

Because here you actually buy it and everywhere else you just rent it :D
I'm actually surprised games with DRM cost less. If you go anywhere else to get fucked it can be pretty expensive.

thats the price you pay for it being drm free
the price ubisoft dictates gog can sell it with out any strings attached
Ok, thanks for the explanation .I thought the on sale thing was a gimmick just like in the stores :)

The 'on sale' tab should be anything currently on discount.

From google:

'Gamesplanet: Game keys for Steam, Origin, Uplay, GOG and more'

Never heard of this website and as much as they write the word legal all over their site, I still have my doubts how much is true considering GOG doesn't resell keys.

Ganni1987: considering GOG doesn't resell keys.
Amazon, uplay, humble and a couple of developers do sell GOG keys, with the blessing of GOG. No idea if Gamesplanet has GOG's blessing, but it shouldn't be that hard to check. If the GOG key is a gift code, there's no way they have GOG's blessing.
