Againas I keep saying to people needing Steam launcher without workarounds for a game isn't drm free at best it is a minor drm that's not intrusive and easy to bypass

The steam launcher is not required in any way. The demo can be run without any problem from its exe. I have never even downloaded, let alone used, the steam GUI client.

Then how do you legit download it from Steam? seriously last I checked without workarounds one needs Steams app/launcher to download games/demos then can get rid of it if a game doesn't mind not having such ..granted I haven't used Steam much for gaming sense discovering GOG so maybe things changed

Not sure how to do this as when I try to download the demo via Steam I only get two options. Either I need to have the Steam Launcher installed before I can download anything or the other option is I have to download the launcher and install that first. I can't even get to the game to access its exe. How do I access the game without using the launcher? Thanks.

I use a command-line tool called steamcmd (similar to gogrepoc, but dumbed down):

Short tutorial on SteamCMD.

The two most useful commands are:
(a) to download and install a new owned game, or to update an existing owned game:
steamcmd +force_install_dir [PATH_TO_GAME_DIR] +login [STEAM_USER] +app_update [GAME_ID] +quit
- the numeric game ID is found on the steam game page URL
- the tool is clever enough not to do anything if the game is already up to date
(b) to claim a free game or demo that does not have an "add to library" button on steam's website
steamcmd +login [STEAM_USER] +app_license_request [LICENSE_ID] +quit
- one way of finding the numeric license ID is by right clicking on the "download" button and selecting (in Firefox) "Inspect (Q)", then looking for the number following "steam://install/"
