I want to start out by saying I recently retired after 44 years working electronic communicastions. I therefore have a very untrusting mind when it comes to my comupter and online connections. My question is how do I disable your GOG Galaxy program? It pisses me off to start a game and GOG Galaxy loads in the background and connects to your site. And don't give me any crap about "keeping the game up to date'! They are all old games, many DOS games in Dosbox, and there hasn't been an update in decades. This is nothing but a security risk (minor maybe, but still a risk) and I don't want it going on. I am seriously considering uninstalling those games and just not play them, or find a way to install them without GOG Galaxy.

Just don't install Galaxy.

There are standalone installers in your account (underneath the Galaxy installers.

in your library, under the big blue "DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL NOW" button on each gamecard, theres an option to "DOWNLOAD OFFLINE BACKUP GAME INSTALLERS". (edit: see image attached to BreO172's comment above)

any game youve downloaded via galaxy can be moved though, and you should be able to uninstall galaxy without losing them.

as to updates on dosbox games, gog have recently added cloud save support to them - hence the updates. hope that helps.

Uninstall Galaxy and simply launch the game's exe file. In the future, download the offline backup installers (look below the big blue "Download and install" button, those come without Galaxy.
