Probably one of the best giveaway so far. There is only the general issue, those giveaways are almost always without DLCs. So, either people play it without DLCs or... the DLCs may cost more than the base game. If there will ever be any price cuts on the DLCs i can not say, because another issue appearing (on many games) is that there is a price cut on a FULL version with all DLCs included or... simply no price cut at all. Still, it is basically a big game that can be played for free, just not "the real deal" at this point.

And yes, Callisto Protocol was without any DLCs as well, but those DLCs there was not really worth it. As always, a lot of "free game"; but if someone really enjoys the game, it may come with a grain of salt.

The DLCs on Tropico, as a package, surely add a lot of new fun stuff, but the price asked is usually to high (which is a general issue on many DLCs out there).

This time, on the GoG version of Tropico 4 at least, the DLCs are currently with a fair price, so i guess... if people enjoy the basic version, they may be able to realistically upgrade the game with the DLCs included:

Sure, i hope there will be some complete giveaways in some far future, but this is probably to much to ask for.

"Base" games with separate DLCs are just game demos, usually not worth wasting money on either way, if only as a matter of principle.

Depends on the price of the DLCs. In the case of Tropico 4, if someone enjoys the base game and is "upgrading" it for 7-8 coins... i would say it is a fair price for a finally full and good game, a bargain. However... indeed, it is NOT free... unless it will stay a demo.

Unfortunately, there are some giveaways with very high priced DLCs, those games are definitely not much more than a "full demo" because... if truly enjoyed, the only true way in order to get the full experience is to get the "full package", and almost never by upgrading the base game. In this case it is kinda dirty... not fair to the customers.

If you want the complete Cyberpunk version, with every single goodie... then users can as well NOT upgrade their base game... they will need the full Ultimate version, according to what is known to me (the base game will not be upgraded to Ultimate). So, previous supporters got screwed and the devs apparently does not care.

In general... this "base game issue" is surely playing with fire, as it may create distrust.
Although, this is issue is not that old at all... so i had to "update" my own outdated perception of how things works. I guess this matter has been created mostly in the past few years... when many publishers increasingly turned to be less customer friendly, because the majority simply does not care. If someone lacks pride... you can roll over those affected and demand almost anything you want from them.
