Before I became a brainless FPS zombie (currently in rehab) I was a major RTS kid. It was a 50/50 split between platformers on PS2 and RTS games on my computer. C&C Generals and Zero Hour were my favorite to play vs bots and on occasional LAN games. So when I found Battle for Middle-earth on a discount shelf, this was back when Gamestop was trying to 'phase out' PC games in the early-mid 00's, of course I begged and pleaded with my dad to get it for me.
I burned up a CD drive playing those games almost non-stop. BFME 1 will always be my faovrite, although BFME2 did make some fun advancements and alterations to gameplay, so I hope it will be brought onto GOG one day. I know it's unlikely because of how the Tolkein estate is with the IP but it was a masterpiece of a game on an exceptional engine that deserves to be preserved. If video games are indeed art, which I do believe they are, they need to be preserved long past their prime window for profits and popularity.
