Story:
Discworld is a game released for PC (subsequently Mac, and Playstation) by Teeny Weeny / Perfect 10 studios in 1995. The game was released both on floppy disk and CD-Rom. The latter featured a commentary team created of many veterans of famous Brit-Coms. This included Monty Python's Eric Idle, Radio 4's (later to be more famous) Rob Brydon, ex- Doctor Who John Pertwee, 70s pop singer Kate Robbins, and Blackadder star Tony Robinson. The game is a riff on the Discworld title 'Guards, Guards', however many elements of the text have been shifted, not least the inclusion of Rincewind as protagonist. The game featured puzzles which were considered far too difficult and obtuse for gamers of the time, but the game itself has had a lasting legacy, now being accepted into such emulators as SCUMMVM.

An extremely fun point-and-click adventure game for all Discworld fans! It's full of humour and challenging puzzles (though a walkthrough is not necessary). :-) What's the story? Well ... you play Rincewind, the (Disc)world's most inept wizard (who can't even spell the word "wizard"), and you try to save your city - and eventually the world - from a secret society who tries to summon a dragon to do their bidding. That's the story in a nutshell, but there's more, oh-so-much more ... and it is hilarious. Highly recommended.Rath_Darkblade

I love old retro point and klick games and the discworld series are a true gem. It would be devastating to loose those art pieces. Please find a way to restore them so most of us have a chance to enjoy them. Kind regards Lola

The first game I had so much fun with after the Monkey Islands! Beautiful art, very funny dialogues with Monty Python's Eric Idle as Rincewind, but very difficult too.

This is one of the hardest point and click adventures I have ever played. But god it was beautiful. You should really bring this game and the sequel to the new audience :)

Be careful if SOMEBODY SPEAKS LIKE THIS. It took me a whole weekend untill i found out, what i had to do with the santa claus plushy..... the two PC adventures introduced me to Terry Pratchetts work.

I was so young that i didnt even know a word of english, but i still played some discworld games when i was around 10 years old, and would love to get to buy all of the parts from this series that i could show to my son now!

I still do not understand why this game was not on GOG day 1. It's one of those unmissable point-and-click experience, really point-and-click at its finest. Not the easiest, not the best, but the finest in term of atmosphere, mood, nostalgia effect, humor and graphics. For me, this game is unforgettable because is one of those game that is stuck in my head since I was a child (30 years have passed). Back then, I did not understand English and therefore could not play it (no translation available). Now, I crave to be able to play it on GOG. We, as loyal GOG users, deserve the entire Discworld series on GOG. Instabuy for me.

One of the best open world games ever made. I remember spending so much just roaming around in the city or dive bombing into a big crowd of innocent civilians. This game is what Spider Man Web Of Shadows wished it was.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Reminiscing about the nineties, playing adventure games. My friend of 35+ years I often retell tales of these old games. They must be preserved on a trustworthy platform like GOG. Please..!

To state that Discworld had an impact on me would be more than wrong. I discovered the first two titles in 1997 and the third one in 2005. The first game made me read the books of Terry Pratchett (RIP). Such good games with humor and wit. I still hope that I get to play these games once more before my time´s up. Yes, the puzzles may be a little hard, but in the age of interenet this is not a problem. The voice acting is good, the graphics are handdrawn (as for 1&2) and it´s sad that the og games don´t run that well on modern systems. I recommend all three games.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

It has a simple story line where the hero needs to save Albion from the evil Lord Lucian by collecting together the other three heroes to defeat him. Interactive cut-scenes are a large part of the game however the main character never speaks and all dialogue is uncontrolled. The game features a large variety of game play and freedom, allowing a player to shape the world around and the characters appearance and moral standing based on decisions throughout the game. The player can also get married both same and opposite sex and bring up children to childhood but no farther, expressions are a lot more interactive with NPC's than before
