musteriuz: Ta, that's more or less what I was looking for, and it seems to confirm my suspicion that I'd need to discover the "break-point" for the "bad" version of Unity - most of the games that I have on that gog mix works just fine on my PC, but Starcrawlers does not want to run. I am awaiting feedback from Support, but I expect they are currently enjoying their well-earned New Year's break.

gogtrial34987: According to this post, StarCrawlers uses 5.6.2f1, which is the next to newest unity version listed in that thread (though that was in september).

musteriuz: Thanks and hmmm, that version says "32bit only", and I have a 64bit Vista - maybe that's my problem. Can I run 32bit games in 64bit Vista?

X-com: I just checked and there is both a 32 and 64 bit download for Starcrawlers on my game library page

musteriuz: Indeed - I did download, install and try to run the 64-bit version, but it was a no-go.

X-com: Yeah, gog must have tested it with Vista but it didn't work so Vista's not listed in the compatible OS on the game page. Also I used to use Vista and could get 32 bit software working as well as 64 bit, it only doesn't work the other way around, as in installing 64 bit on a 32 bit system. Most stuff worked but I guess Unity came long after Vista was current so a lot of those programs are hit or miss.
