Now that i've played through this game: This is the most ethereal experience that you can get alongside the soon to be released "Lumines Arise". Tetris Effect really has an effect on you. The Journey Mode of the game is a tour de force of enviroments raging from ethereral to adrenaline inducing to relaxing to just plain beautiful, with extra attention being put into the "pulsing" effects that you get when clearing a line, Tetris, T-Spin Double or other clears you can think of. The other side of the game is the "Effect modes", various challenges that allow you to test and hone your Tetris skills, from normal ones like 40-Line Sprint and a Marathon mode, to ones that are much more out there for a "guideline" game of the time, like a "Classic Tetris" mode that replicates the feel of the 1989/1990 NES release of Tetris, modes fo specific aspects of the game like "All Clear" and Comboing, "out there" modes like Infect (Where you have to disinfect infected Minos via line clears and Mystery (Where random Mystery effects get applied to you), to the "Playlist" and "Chill Marathon" modi, where you just lean back and play until you win. The combination of those two sides of the game would make it perfect as the second Tetris game on GOG.SechsComic73130

Propably best modern Tetris game. I played it when it was in Gamepass and loved it. I really would prefer to have this one in my GOG library. Pretty please? Would be wonderful to have this on GOG :)

whilst you might be thinking to yourself - what could be possibly be so special abou Tetris? - you'd be thinking exactly the same as me, until I played this game. although I hadn't had an experience to play original Tetris, this game with its simplicity hits home, and gives me nostalgia for something that I hadn't even experienced. music for this game is carefully crafted, making your journey truly amazing. every tetrimino move, switch, placement is forcing you into this amazing state - the flow. I hadn't experienced something like that in gaming before. I spent well over 200h total, with many of these hours being 4h sessions in full flow, enjoying music, visuals, simplicity of game. I can't even explain why, but after spending this much hours in game, I noticed that ending of this game makes me very emotional. this is weird, given the game and lack of plot, but I would be lying if I said that I hadn't cried on "Connected" song. I already "own" 2 copies of this game, but I would gladly buy another one, especially one that i could preserve and enjoy without any worry of storefronts dying, licences expiring etc.

This game. I know why they use it as "Subscription bait" I bought it on a platform a while ago after years of temptation. I played, I cried. I've played Tetris since the 80s , this was a personally transformative experience, using simple mechanics like "I want to see what's next" , memory making music, great visuals and meaningful variety. this game is a masterstroke of a masterful puzzle game.
