Max Payne remains to this day one of the best games I got to play, despite its age. The atmosphere is incredible (and it might just be the best part of the game), the bullet-time a joy, the story timeless, with its overly-dramatic Noir flair. The italian dub is also insanely good, each line dripping with theatrical goodness. I still own the physical discs, and fire the game up every few years to experience it all over again.mdqp

If Rockstar won't make the effort to keep this groundbreaking, endlessly intense shooter accessible for future generations to find, then I'll just have to put my faith in GoG to keep it alive. Of the many shooters I have played, very few have had the same thematic, mechanical and emotional resonance as Max Payne. It came along at the perfect time in my life, and in some ways it'll never be replaced.
All time great. Serious story that echo's real life and comedic relief in perfect harmony. Simple, fun, gameplay that never gets old. Great performance and a style that still looks good to this day.
This is a game that I never got a chance to play, but the sequel was something that I couldn't get enough playing just to do all dem fancy slow motion. In all reality, I just want to see Payne's face in slow-mo before I get gunned down by a bunch of confused gangsters. That should be plenty a reason to preserve the game.
This game is a classic, from its graphics to its gameplay. I had beaten the game twice, the second time with my family on Xbox 360. The gunplay may not have aged as well as some others, but personally in this day and age I don't have an issue with it. Max Payne and his classic slow-motion (which allegedly pre-dated the Matrix!) and one-liners gave the game incredible charm. Unfortunately, with the closure of the Xbox 360 store and a broken PC port provided on a different platform, there is no real way to play this game at present time. Max Payne deserves to live on and have it viable to play for modern platforms. "I don't know about angels, but it's fear that gives men wings." - Max Payne

This is unquestionably one of my favorite games of all time. I first played the demo for it all the way back in 2001. and I was instantly hooked. The story, the characters, the action, bullet time, the music, graphic panels instead of pre-rendered cutscenes and of course, the protagonist. I replayed the demo so many times and when I finally beat the whole game it was one hell of a ride. This, alongside No One Lives Forever, is my most desired game to come to GOG, but unlike NOLF we know that Rocstar Games holds all the rights to it. I ask the folks at GOG to contact Rockstar and ask them for permission to release this and the sequel as well here. I would buy it immediately. Easily a 10/10 for me.
An actually revolutionary technology game. Bullet time was simply impressive, I remember telling everyone about this game and pushing it like a Valkyr dealer. we need this game!
Remember playing this game after school, and the fact that I now have money, but I can't find place to buy it,just hurts. If someone needs,i have working fix for this game.
Max Payne is the quintessential early 2000s PC game, sitting among the ranks of Deus Ex, No One Lives Forever, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. If there's one game worthy of carrying Half-Life's torch of unity between action and storytelling, it's the original Max Payne.
Those games also need your vote!

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
